About Us

The purpose of this program assesses emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities and cognitive skills through musical perspectives. This program offers services such as basic fundamentals of music theory, piano lessons (beginners, intermediate and advanced levels), voice lessons, songwriting, music imagery and music performance. Clients will be challenged to participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ongoing evaluation, group interactive projects and recitals. Each session is specifically and strategically designed for individuals and/or group based on the need of the participant.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

Learning music has been associated with developing the brain. Learning how to read music and understanding technical terms can allow children to learn the value of practice, discipline and patience. Having eye and hand coordination helps develop a child’s motor skills which can be applied to a range of everyday activities. These core skills can also then be applied academic ally to excel in their education.

BUILDING CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM

By setting musical goals, children are able to feel a sense of achievement that will encourage them to feel good about their capabilities. Our music directors will often encourage students to family, friends and quarterly recitals. This builds self-esteem and provides a hobby or an interest that they can feel proud of.

COMMUNITY ACTION AND TEAM WORK

Working alongside the music teacher and interacting with other students in lessons can assist to build valuable communication skills. Children will begin to interact socially and learn the value of teamwork.

 

CREATIVE SKILLS

Learning music also stimulates children to be more creative and to have a sense of self-expression through their hobbies and interests. As a result, children will also have a natural interest in all of the performing arts and creating original music.
